Biography
Terra Naomi was born in Saratoga Springs, New York to her father, a plastic surgeon and her mother, a soicial worker. With her parents and two brothers she moved to Cleveland, Ohio and lived there for six years until they finally settled dowm in Upstate New York.
Naomi always knew that she wanted to be something in music but didn't quite know what. She studied classical voice at the university of Michigan after high school but found out later that opera wasn't her thing.
She moved to New York City after college to try and make her dreams come true. she started writing her own songs and playing guitar while waitresiing at a café. She played at several clubs whick lead to a nationwide tour in 2003. During the tour she was offered to move to Los Angeles to work with producer Paul Fox.
Naomi continued touring aruond the country and work with Paul Fox, but her real breakthrough came when she joined the online community Youtube. She uploaded videos whick she called "Virtual Summer Tour". It was her singing some of her original songs, talking and answering some questions. She didn't think much of it, it was just something fun to do. So while hiking in the mountains Naomi gets a call from her friend telling her that there were thousands of comments on her myspace. They didn't know why, but later they found out that Naomi's song Say It's Possible was featured on Youtube. She became one of the most subscibed people on Youtube and and realesed a cd called Virtually. The first 2000 copies were sold out in 8 days. in March 2007 she won the Youtube Video Award for best music video (Say It's Possible) and she also made apperances at NBC's The Today Show and CBS' The Early Show.
Naomi's success kept growing. Her song clean was featured on the soundtrack of Sherrybaby, she preformed at the wembley stadium in London for Live Earth and she got signed with the major label, Island Records.
she's come far, but she'll keep take over the world with her music!
